Community Commitment Gold Award

We’ve had a great few months with award wins and shortlists. Last week, we headed down to London to attend the International Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Excellence Awards, where we picked up the Community Commitment Gold Award. The International CSR Excellence Awards are all about recognising companies that have a heart and go above and beyond normal business practice to benefit those around them.

This year’s awards ceremony was held at the Royal Academy for Dramatic Arts (RADA) in London. The event saw representatives from 40 winning companies, including 14 international winners. Although we knew in advance that we had won an award for Community Commitment, we were delighted to learn on the day that we had met the criteria to be this year’s Gold level winner!

The judges said of our win:

The UK government’s Social Mobility Index ranks Oldham as having one of the lowest rates of social mobility in the country. To address these issues, Web Applications UK ran a number of initiatives targeting education, employment, and business innovation. This included weekly learning opportunities and their Chief Executive frequently advises on the relationship between educational institutions and industry. Congratulations and thank you very much, Web Applications.

We’ve written a lot on our blog about how central our ethos is to every decision we make. Our mission remains to positively impact our employees, customers and community through a culture of learning, growth and innovation. The International CSR Excellence Award judges stated that they were impressed by our commitment to providing educational opportunities for our community. Whether it’s running our WebbieZone CoderDojo for children, mentoring young people in our popular work experience programme, or attending local aspiration day events to enlighten people on the career opportunities in our sector, everyone in the company is committed to helping our community learn and grow.

We’re honoured to be presented with this award and it only further cements our commitment to having a positive impact on those around us.
