So Long, Lee

Clapton is god

Earlier this month our Co-Founder and Technical Director Lee Tudor made the announcement he would be leaving the company, after 16 immensely successful years. Today will be his last day as a Webbie before he moves on to his next adventure; but before then, let’s take a moment to look back.

In 2000 Lee and Co-Founder Gordon Pearce sat down in a small office, just a 5-minute walk away from where our Windsor Works building now stands, and started to work on an idea. It’s almost impossible to imagine the very first of our systems, Traveller, was written by just two people – but that’s exactly what happened.

Today, our latest system Extrali is a market leader in enterprise scale travel solutions, and the company is supported by a huge team, from Software Engineers and Project Managers to Marketing and Admin support. Fresh from an exceptionally positive User Group Seminar, Lee is leaving a company at the top of its game. He said:

I have met many individuals over the last 16 years, employees and customers alike, and am proud of the friendships that we have made. I’m extremely grateful for all of their time spent with me, on the various projects throughout the history of Web Apps; it is always a pleasure to work alongside such excellent people.

It is undoubtedly a sad day when the last founding member of a company leaves. But it is also a proud one, because Lee knows he is leaving behind an excellent business. Not just one that is financially robust, but one that is committed to having a positive impact on its surroundings – not just our employees, but our customers and wider community.

So goodbye Lee, but also thank you – for the training sessions, the games, the mentor-ship, the laughs, and all the hard work you’ve put in to make this company what it is today.
