Bowling Night Strikes Again

Though it has long been in the rotation, it’s only recently that Bowling Night has become a favourite among Webbies. Chiefly driven by Administrator Ally, every month or so a large contingency of employees converge upon Hollywood Bowl, Ashton, to roll hardened polyester spheres and look cool while doing it. It’s also a great opportunity to grab a bite to eat and a drink, something we always appreciate!

We always make use of the lane service at Hollywood Bowl, ensuring we don’t even have to interrupt our games to call in emergency hot-dogs and Pepsi. Whilst feasting on guilty pleasures from ‘Harry’s Kitchen’ Team A and Team B took up position on lanes 25 and 26. Webbies being a competitive species, I think it best I try and provide an accurate report of how we fared.

Team B got off to a bad start, with hot prospect Nick missing every pin on his first three rolls. I did not help by being characteristically bad. I tried to cover it up with a show of trademark nonchalance, but I’m not 100% it worked…

Always on form Mark, IP Ryszard and Naomi dragged up the average score of Team B, though Team A fired far ahead thanks to a roster made up of players who usually post good scores, including Kris, Andy F. and Rik. IP James P turned up for his first bowling night and performed admirably, and new dev Josh Green turned out to be one of the dark horses of the group. We’ll have to keep an eye on that one! Andy Foster, who can normally be counted on to do well, unfortunately wasn’t on top of his game, but it didn’t matter in the end as Team A cruised to the finish line.

Needing to practice, I guess we have no choice but to go more. See you next time!

Up next Friday: (a long overdue) Webbie night out! Run for cover, Manchester…
