We spent a highly enjoyable day at the Engineering, Science and Technology Fair last week. Held at Manchester Central, the event organised by The University of Manchester careers service is a great opportunity for businesses to connect with students and graduates.
Ian and Naomi set up camp at Stand 16 to be on hand to explain how great it is to work at Web Applications UK and what we can offer to aspiring Software Engineers. Oh, and give out jelly beans and chocolates of course. Very important.
Our Chief Executive, Craig Dean, gave a lecture on interview technique at 11:15am – ‘Secret Diary of an Interviewer’ was packed out with over 40 attendees coming to learn anything they could from our vastly experienced interviewer. Craig was keen to share his knowledge and expertise with the future of the industry, and having conducted definitely hundreds, possibly thousands of interviews over the years, he is well qualified to do so. His talk was very well received and we heard some great positive feedback from those who spoke to us afterwards. Hopefully they learned a lot, and took away some valuable advice as Craig could well be interviewing some of them personally in the future!
We were at the fair to promote our internship and industrial placement opportunities for next year, which we’re sure will arrive before we know it! Not to mention our great Software Engineer roles which students may wish to consider after graduation. Can we expect a bumper year for applications in 2014? Here’s hoping!
