Those who believe in telekinetics, raise my hand.

At Web Applications UK, we have always been keen to support our community. So when another local organisation is doing what they can to ensure a brighter future for our town, we like to see them succeed. In support of the fantastic work they are doing, we are proud to announce that we are officially a Corporate Supporter of Oldham Coliseum Theatre.

Redefining the way they work within and for the community, the theatre’s education and outreach team have been developing exciting new ways of engaging young people. They are putting those otherwise not engaged in learning or in employment at the heart of theatre-making.

The Teaching Theatre aims to build skills, creativity and, most importantly, a keen appetite to learn and develop further among Oldham’s young people. This structured, accredited programme will provide practical, hands-on experience alongside industry professionals in a live theatre environment.

Training in technical skills such as lighting, sound technology and rigging will all be on offer. There will also be chance to grapple with marketing, budgeting and financial management as well as gaining valuable employability and life skills.

Another branch of learning and engagement work the Coliseum has committed to is ‘Out and About’ community DIY theatre programme. This involves pop-up performances across the borough, engaging new audiences, supporting community centres and inspiring young people.

For all Webbies who have an interest in theatre (we’re a cultured bunch!), we’ll be taking regular trips to see some of the fantastic shows the Oldham Coliseum Theatre puts on each year. Their upcoming production of Bedroom Farce will be sponsored by The Centre of Excellence so you can be sure we’ll be there to support it!
