Delivering Code as a Team - The Video

Those who believe in telekinetics, raise my hand.

Craig Dean’s guest lecture last week was recorded and has now been uploaded onto YouTube.

The lecture was delivered to Advanced Computer Science Msc students at the University of Manchester on Wednesday 18th May. Designed as an introduction to working as a Software Engineer, the lecture covers a wide range of topics from issue tracking and source control to the types of jobs available to graduates. Live demonstrations were included of our Fogbugz and Kiln systems but these have been omitted from the recording as they contained real data.

If you are thinking of becoming a Software Engineer or are fairly junior to the role, we highly recommend you watch this video as it contains a lot of useful information.

Recorded on a new iPad, the video has been mixed down on Sony Vegas Pro to improve the quality with image stabilisation and colour correction effects. While there were no microphones, the sound has been compressed and the noise has been reduced. The presentation was done in PowerPoint, edited to 16:9 from 4:3 for video, saved out to WMV at 1270×720 and upscaled to HD.
