October 29th 2010 was Wear It Pink Day where people could show their support for the Breast Cancer campaign by donning something pink and making a small donation. A large percentage of the office participated and showed their support. This office adopted a broad definition of the word ‘pink’ (some of those clothes were decidedly purple or just plain off-white) but it was the thought that counted. For most people dressing in pink involved putting on a pink shirt, though for others bandanas featured prominently along with bracelets. No one said accessories didn’t count. All in all the office raised £50 of donations from staff which has been doubled by Web Applications UK bringing the total to £100. We want to send out a big ‘thank you’ to everyone who participated and showed their support for this worthy cause. On a tangential note, Web Applications’ Rob Illing has decided to donate his face to raise awareness about prostate cancer. Donating his face in this case means growing a moustache through the entire month of Movember (formerly known as November). Rob has asked for individual sponsors to support his cause by donating to The Prostate Cancer Charity. If you would like to sponsor Rob’s moustache and become a part of this campaign, you can click this link http://uk.movember.com/donate/your-details/member_id/744180/ and donate online using your credit card or PayPal account. Conversely you can send a cheque and/or CAF vouchers (made payable to ‘The Prostate Cancer Charity Re Movember’) directly to The Prostate Cancer Charity – First Floor, Cambridge House, Cambridge Grove, London W6 0LE. Be sure to include the person’s name on the back of the cheque. For more information about the month of Movember visit: http://uk.movemberfoundation.com/research-and-programs. The autumn season is surely turning into the season of giving, and Web Applications loves that our members are so dedicated to helping others. Keep checking in for more updates on Rob’s moustache and an eye out for our next fundraising campaign: Children in Need.
