Andrew Fryer is the Microsoft representative who is going to be gracing us with his presence and presentation at the User Group Seminar May 17th. With the User Group Seminar less than a month away, we decided it was time to let you know a little about our guest presenter. He has been with Microsoft for a number of years and specialises in Business Intelligence as well as other topics, like remote desk-topping (sic), web virtualisation, and the topic du jour, SQL Server 2008.
Yes, Mr. Fryer from Microsoft is going to be speaking at our seminar on his favourite topic, Business Intelligence, and SQL 2008 Reporting Services (SSRS). His job will be to educate the masses (the attendees) on the ease of using reporting services, and how to get the best results from it. In case you’re unsure how this relates to Web Applications, Br-ease, our new Batch Reporting System, can use SSRS when creating Detail Reports (A full explanation of Br-ease is coming to theatres soon.)
Some of you may be thinking, ‘Who is this mystery man coming from Microsoft?’ Well, instead of sitting there reading what I write about him, you can look him up for yourself by reading his blog. I’ve spent some time on this blog, and it really is quite interesting, especially his videos. Personally, I recommend PowerPivot cookery, a video you can find by looking at his January posts. There is also an interview that has been posted with him talking to a colleague about what he does at Microsoft which I found very informative. Don’t be intimidated by these videos, the longest of them (that I found) is only about five minutes, ideal for a quick introduction to his speaking style.
I’m very excited about Andrew, he comes across as an exceptionally dynamic speaker, and I think if anyone could make SSRS interesting, it’s definitely him. The UGS is in less than a month now and Web Applications is gearing up to make it the best seminar yet. Menu choices have been sent out so make sure to reply with your preferred dishes. If you’d like to attend but still haven’t contacted us, make sure to get on that pronto because time is definitely running out. See you all there!
