Placements and Internships

Jack Simpson

Head of Marketing and Communications

I know it was you, Fredo.

What’s the deal?
Our commitment to having a positive impact on our community is part of who we are. This includes the thriving community of developers (and budding developers) in Greater Manchester. We welcome around 15-20 young people a year into our midst to take part in work placement schemes, ranging from work experience weeks to one year industrial student placements.

What does the role involve?
Placements and internships at Web Applications can be whatever you want them to be. You can be certain that you’ll grow, working alongside lots of talented programmers, and that you’ll receive a great insight into life at a thriving tech company.

What qualifications/experience will I need?
Anyone is welcome, as long as they have an interest in programming and software development as a career choice. Someone with no prior coding experience might struggle, so we would suggest that you have at least attended a code club regularly, dabbled in coding in school or college, or can evidence other extra-curricular involvement or interest in software development, such as attending hackathons.

What character attributes would best suit the role?
We love meeting passionate people. If you’re someone who loves that feeling of working something out, or running a piece of code for the first time – we’d love to have you.

What training will be provided?
Formal training sessions, buddy programming and on-the-job training are all part of the extensive training provided. On top of this, every Software Engineer has half a day per week Personal Development Time.

When is the application closing date?
We encourage applications at all times, as such there is no closing date or start date for internships and placements.
