Last Thursday, members of the Web Apps team were present at The Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce‘s annual dinner at The Point, Old Trafford. As President of the Oldham branch of the chamber, our Chief Exec. Craig Dean was a VIP at the black tie event, and brought an entourage of Webbies with him.

Hosted by comedian Rory Bremner, speakers included GMCC’s Chief Executive Clive Memmott, their President Phil Cusack, President of the British Chambers of Commerce Nora Senior, and finally the Shadow Chancellor, The Rt. Hon Ed Balls MP. The theme of the evening was, of course, Greater Manchester; they spoke in celebration of a successful year, and in planning for times ahead. Oldham, where Web Apps is based, has seen the benefits of Manchester’s economy, with the expansion of the Metrolink in recent times through the town centre.

Shadow Chancellor Ed Balls was one of several engaging speakers.

We also used the evening as an opportunity to launch our newest venture, WA:UK Tech Angels! Operating from our Windsor Works Campus, next door to the Centre of ExcellenceTech Angels is our way of putting years of experience back into the IT community. We offer seed investment, expert mentorship, office space including computer equipment, internet and telephony, admin and marketing support, and much more to people with bright ideas we want to see do well. If you have a great digital business idea, we’d love to hear from you.
