After the success of Oldham Athletic’s recent win against Liverpool FC in the 4th round of the FA Cup, Oldham is doing everything they can to drum up support for our boys in blue. On Saturday 16th February, Latics will take on Premiership side Everton at Boundary Park in the next stage of the competition and we are hoping they take down another footballing giant.
During the last game, B&Q Oldham gave up their car park for the day, allowing fans to park there with all donations going to Dr Kershaw’s Hospice in Royton, Oldham. Dr Kershaw’s Hospice provides specialist, palliative care for adults with non-curable, life threatening illnesses in a peaceful and homely environment.
For this match, the Oldham Evening Chronicle have launched their “Have a Blue Day for Dr K” campaign, encouraging local businesses and schools to arrange a blue day, with all proceeds going to Dr Kershaw’s. This can involve anything from having a non-uniform, or dress down in blue day, a blue themed cake sale or even painting your whole body blue!
As you may already know, Web Applications UK are always up for supporting charities, especially ones in our town. We will be holding our very own Blue Day for Dr K on Friday 15th February where us Webbies will don our blue clothing and bake a selection of blue cakes and treats. In keeping with the football theme, we will be having a penalty shootout at lunchtime, where the company will donate for every goal scored past our very own Chief Executive, Craig Dean! If this isn’t enough, we will also have a range of pay-to-play games throughout the day including ‘guess the golden goal’.
This day is set to be a day of great fun and all for a great cause. We’re almost as excited about this as we are about the Oldham v Everton match!
