Chryssi - A Woman of Many Talents

So it goes

Chrysanthi Gkolfinopoulou, or Chryssi as we know her, is the Project Manager of the purple team and has been with us for over 8 months now. As she recently took on her first clients, I felt it was time to see how she is enjoying life as a Webbie.

As her name suggests, Chryssi is originally from Greece where she worked as a Project Manager in a business management consultancy. Moving to England in 1998, she has lived and worked in Manchester for over 10 years. Studying at Salford University, she gained an undergraduate degree in Music Composition. Along with her passion for music, Chryssi is fascinated by IT and followed her interest by studying for a Master’s degree in Computation at The University of Manchester.

After graduating, Chryssi gained a job at British Gas. Initially working in their call centre, she progressed to work as a business analyst, giving her the opportunity to work in Delhi, India for two years!

Chryssi enjoys every aspect of her job, particularly the ever changing nature of the role. There isn’t a typical day for Chryssi but she is currently working on new developments with her clients. Like me, Chryssi is constantly asking questions as she aims to increase her technical knowledge. She is always keen to develop and believes that this is the perfect environment to do so.

The social side to life at Web Applications UK is an aspect that Chryssi loves. She attends the monthly curry club and her favourite event to date was the night out at The Comedy Store in Manchester.  She believes that our events are a key benefit of working here, particularly for new starters.

Chryssi currently lives in Manchester city centre in what she describes as a very chaotic house! In her spare time, she loves cooking Greek food and is always inviting her friends around to share it. Chryssi enjoys composing classical music and can play the piano, guitar and a range of African percussion instruments. Despite not having her piano here in England, Chryssi has mixed her love for music with her love for technology and now writes new orchestral pieces with her iPad! Along with composing music, Chryssi loves listening to music, her favourite bands being The Smiths and The Stone Roses.

If she were to describe herself in three words, they would be patient, honest and friendly. Chryssi has an exam in two weeks so we wish her lots of luck!
