Sale Sharks Steal First Victory at Salford City Stadium

You may already know from our previous blog that we are the proud official sponsor of The Sale Sharks sin bin for all of the home games in The Aviva Premiership.

On Friday 5th October, a few lucky Webbies were treated to an evening at The Sale Sharks vs The Leicester Tigers game. This was our first opportunity to sample the hospitality at the new state of the art, £16 million Salford City Stadium. Being the official sponsors of the sin bin, we were delighted when two players were sent off during the game, even though one of them was one of our men!

Later that week, we were offered hospitality tickets to see The Sale Sharks take on The Cardiff Blues on Sunday 14th October in the Heineken Cup. Despite having never been to a rugby game before, the free breakfast sold it to me! As it turns out, I did actually enjoy the rugby too!

On arrival, we were treated to a selection of warm pastries before further indulging in a full English breakfast. After a quick introduction from the Director of Rugby at Sale Sharks Bryan Redpath, we made our way outside ready for kick off!

The atmosphere within the stadium was electric throughout and before we knew it, we were joining in the chants with the rest of the fans! The Cardiff Blues took an early lead in the game, scoring their first try after 15 minutes. After some much needed tea and coffee at half time to warm ourselves up, Cardiff still remained in the lead. The game changed drastically after around 50 minutes, when Sale Sharks star Danny Cipriani came on. The second half of the game was extremely tense with Sale edging into the lead with just 6 minutes to go!  The Sale fans were drowning out the stadium with the chants for the team when the final whistle was blown and The Sale Sharks had won their first game of the season!

After the game, we made our way back into the hospitality suite where we were joined by the players including Man of the Match, Danny Cirpriani! We were able to watch the presentations before grabbing a quick picture with the star of the show. It is clear that the Web Applications UK marketing team are a lucky charm and we will definitely be returning in the future, especially now we know all the chants!
