On Friday morning the business people of Oldham gathered to celebrate the achievements of Mahdlo – the spectacular new youth zone in the centre of Oldham. At Web Applications UK, we have supported Mahdlo from the beginning so we were more than happy to sponsor their Business Breakfast.
As everyone was enjoying sausage and bacon sandwiches on us, there were ample networking opportunities for all the attendees. The morning’s host was Terry Flanagan, Deputy Chairman of Mahdlo’s board. He kicked off by talking about Mahdlo’s achievements so far, illuminated by Prince Edward’s visit for the official opening earlier in the week.
James Timpson, the Chief Executive of Timpson, was the guest speaker at the event and he didn’t disappoint. Introduced as an A-lister of the business speaker world, James had the audience gripped throughout. He discussed the history of his family business and the way it is run today. The culture maintained at Timpson mirrors the culture here at Web Apps in many ways, despite being in entirely different industries.
As the sponsor, our Chief Executive, Craig Dean said a few words to close the event. Terry Flanagan introduced Craig as North West Entrepreneur of the Year and Craig thanked everyone for supporting Mahdlo over the last few months.
Mahdlo are holding team building event The Big Climb on Friday 26th October with local Everest climber Paul Braithwaite. Web Applications UK are sending a team along in preparation for Hack Manchester the following weekend. We hope to see you there!
