Movember is here tomorrow, the time of year in the Web Apps office that sees our clean-cut city types transformed into rugged, hairy beasts over 30 days, in support of prostate cancer and testicular cancer initiatives.
Following ‘Wear It Pink’ Day last week, a day dedicated to women’s health and specifically the Breast Cancer Campaign, we now find ourselves in the throes of Movember! Throughout the month of Movember, the ‘Mo Bros’ will cast aside their razors and shun their daily de-hairing routine in favour of a greater cause: to raise funds for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men. The distinctive moustaches (or ‘Mos’) will also raise essential awareness of men’s health. All funds raised will be donated to research institutions, such as the Prostate Cancer Charity, the Institute of Cancer Research and the Movember Foundation.
The band of Web Apps Mo Bros who are braving the realms of facial fluff will make sure to be clean-shaven tomorrow (the 1st of Movember) and will then be monitored throughout the month, so we can track their progress (and make sure no one is having a sneaky trim). And as if any more incentive were required, the ‘Mos’ will serve as a handy facial warmers on those chilly English mornings.
Take a leaf out of the Web Apps Mo Bros book and grow yourself a Mo for the cause or simply donate by visiting the Movember official website.
Nb: It wounds me to report that neither of the men pictured above actually work for Web Applications, but stay tuned for pictures of the clean-shaven faces of the far superior Mo Bros in this office, as we kick start Movember.
