Some people will have received an email from Sage Pay discussing their system upgrade that will happen this Saturday, April 17. The upgrade will allow Sage Pay to rebuild their live site into the new upgraded system whilst moving the Sage Pay Live Payment Gateway service across to their Disaster Recovery (DR) site. This does not mean that there is anything wrong; they are just doing some work.
In all likelihood, this will not affect you at all. The only people this will affect are those who have firewalls that restrict access to external resources or those who have any specialised DNS settings. Both of these instances are highly unlikely. If you have reason to think that you have this firewall or DNS setting, you can contact your IT provider and have this all sorted out, but if you don’t know, you’re probably fine.
Work will not be started on Sage Pay’s system until 22:00 Saturday the 17th to cause the least amount of disruption as possible, it may take a few seconds but there is always the possibility that it will take longer than that. This new upgrade will enable Sage Pay to enhance the speed and capacity of their systems to cope with future predicted demand. If you feel like airing concerns to Sage Pay directly, you can always email or call their support line.
